The Estonian Renault FT-17 refers to the French Renault FT-17 tanks that were acquired and used by Estonia in the interwar period. The Renault FT-17 was a light tank designed during World War I and was one of the most influential tank designs of the early 20th century.
After the war, many countries, including Estonia, obtained surplus FT-17s for their own use. In Estonia, these tanks were utilized for defense purposes and played a role in the country’s military strategy during the 1920s and 1930s. However, by the outbreak of World War II, these tanks were largely obsolete compared to newer tank designs emerging at the time.
