Feel the difference between two scales (1:72 vs 1:35)

Stridsvagn M39 Swedish Light Tank

A small armored scandinavian beast in 1:72 scale

Today in our workshop you can hear the roar of a diesel engine and the clang of tank tracks. We will talk about the test-build of a model of a Swedish light tank STRIDSVAGN M39 from the period of the 2nd World War. Don't forget to put on your tank helmet and welcome!

I'm sure it's always been interesting for you to look behind the scenes of our hobby, to get to know and learn about the process of assembling our models. Right now you have such an opportunity!

  • Model manufacturer: IBG Models
  • Model scale: 1:72
  • Contains: plastic & metal parts, decals
  • Number of parts: aprox. 170
  • Model dimensions (L x W x H): 67 x 29 x 28 mm

Looking at these photos you can find out what we actually build our exclusive models from. These are plastic and metal parts, decals with identification marks and numbers. In skillful and experienced hands, all this turns into a very high-quality and realistic reduced copy of a real tank.

The test assembly of this tiny model took about 5 hours of pure time. The result is a very interesting and highly detailed model of a Swedish tank.

After assembling the model, and sometimes in parallel with it, comes the turn of painting, applying chips and scratches, identification marks, as well as imitation of the influence of weather conditions ... But this is a topic for another article.

INFO

Landsverk L-60

And it is impossible not to say a few words about the historical prototype of this model.

The Landsverk L-60 was a Swedish tank developed in 1934. It was developed by AB Landsverk as a light tank which included several advanced design features such as torsion bar suspension, periscopes rather than view slits and all-welded construction.

The L-60 was progressively improved with several turrets, engines and guns offered by Landsverk. The L-60 entered the international market in 1935 and was eventually adopted by the Swedish army in 4 main variants: Stridsvagn m/38, Stridsvagn m/39, Stridsvagn m/40L and Stridsvagn m/40K.
